We have a short, fun story about our journey...
Our Tiki symbol is a mythological god who loves fun and ocean waves. The symbol is linked to the famous explorer and anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl and his celebrated "Kon-Tiki" raft expedition. According to Heyerdahl, the Inca sun god Kon-Tiki Viracocha once travelled from Peru to the islands of Polynesia.
The interesting part is that the art of wave riding first appeared in Peru, then spread throughout South America and finally reached Hawaii and other parts of the Polynesian archipelago. So Tiki is a symbol of the homeland and origins of surfing. The Starboard name itself represents our company's attitude and culture.
We notice that people in different corners of the world enjoy different colour combinations, and this inspires us to be creative: to design, improve, discover and introduce more and more new products every season, so we can offer a wide range of products for everyone.
